Technology at The Winson Knolls School
students at the center…
At the Winston Knolls School, we are committed to providing innovative and inclusive STEM programming that integrates technology to enhance the educational experience for all students. We utilize a variety of assistive technologies to support communication, empowering students to express themselves and engage meaningfully in their learning. Chromebooks are used to promote independent learning and allow students to access a curriculum tailored to their needs. Interactive whiteboards serve as powerful tools for whole-group interaction, facilitating collaborative learning and helping students develop essential technology skills.
This year, our students are taking on an exciting project: redesigning the Winston Knolls website, which will be unveiled in June 2025. Brayden Gall, a dedicated student at our school, has taken on the role of project leader for this student-led initiative, exemplifying the integration of STEM skills in real-world applications. STEM education is especially critical in a therapeutic day school setting, as it encourages problem-solving, creativity, and self-confidence, preparing students for successful futures where technology will play an ever-growing role.
Supporting the technology and STEM initiative at Winston Knolls Therapeutic Day School is a powerful way to help enhance our students' learning experiences and foster their independence. One of the key elements of this initiative is the integration of interactive whiteboards into our learning spaces, which has had a transformative impact on how students engage with the curriculum. These interactive tools allow for dynamic, hands-on learning that encourages collaboration and creativity, enabling students to interact with lessons in ways that are both engaging and meaningful. Donations to this initiative directly support the continued use and expansion of these interactive technologies, ensuring that all students have access to the resources they need to succeed. By contributing to our STEM efforts, you help provide our students with the technology skills they need for the future while empowering them to communicate, collaborate, and thrive in their educational journeys.
