A bright spot in the winter blues this year was a visit by the Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort dogs. Hannah Comfort Dog and Kare 9 Brandy snuggled, sniffed and happily accepted ear rubs and back scratches from the students, and staff. In addition to visiting schools like Winston Knolls, nursing homes, hospitals and college campuses, the LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs travel across the county to provide comfort during tragedies. Launched in August 2008, the LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry is a national human-care ministry embracing the unique, calming nature and skills of purebred Golden Retrievers.
